A short 20 minutes north of Fort Collins, you will find the small town of Wellington and the Wellington KOA. If you are choosing this area to be close to Cheyenne Frontier Days or other rodeo activities, you will be pleased to find that it has 80-foot-long sites and horse boarding facilities. It is very easy to access from Fort Collins or Cheyenne and is an excellent choice for those who want to be a little removed from town.
Whether you are a cowboy or just a cowboy at heart, this campground is a great place to park your rig for a few days. It has all the amenities you expect from KOA, like a pool, pavilion, and Kamp kitchen. Plus, you can board horses here. It’s close to Fort Collins and only an hour from RMNP.
“Another nice, quiet KOA campground where we spent the night on our way home. The campsites are roomy, and it appears that fresh landscaping is underway. An added bonus was the sound of a train going by shortly after we turned out the lights. Nothing quite like the sound of a train to lull you to sleep! We will stay here again sometime.” – Shane, Google Review
