De Soto State Park is known for continuing their rustic tradition of the civilian conservation corps. It was developed in the late 1930s and has natural enhancements that make this one of the most popular parks in the Fort Payne, Alabama, area. It is nestled above Lookout Mountain, which is a beautiful scenic area in northeastern Alabama that is highlighted by many of its forceful waterfalls and wonderful-smelling wildflowers.
