Colonel Denning State Park is perfectly positioned in Cumberland Valley. It is 8 miles north of Newville and about 9 miles south of Landisburg. If you enjoy the outdoors, this is the park offers plenty of hiking, fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities.
The park is comprised of over 173 acres of woodland full of hiking and camping opportunities. From this area, you can see Doubling Gap, which is an area where the Blue Mountains double back on themselves. There is also a lake that is 3.5 acres wide that campers can enjoy.
“Nice, small, little state park. Lake is small, but usually has plenty of fish in it, and it is stocked in the spring with trout. Trails are all around in the state forest, which can be found easily with the signs along the forest roads.” – Phillip, Google Review ,
