Black Canyon Campground is 20 miles southeast of Eugene. Since it’s located in the Willamette National Forest, the campsites are all nice and shaded. This park is part of the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
Black Canyon Campground offers a rustic stay with no frills but an abundance of outdoor recreation. Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, hiking and swimming are just some of the popular activities in the area. You will see lots of wildlife, including mule deer, bobcats, Roosevelt elk and bald eagles. There are also 1,700 miles of hiking and biking trails, some of which are in wilderness areas and some closer to camp. This is a great place for a family vacation if you love outdoor activities and camping.
“This campground exceeded our expectations! Every campsite is quiet and surrounded by huge trees that provide enough shade on a hot day. The walk to the water is a short trek & the water is gorgeous! It is perfect for a lounging day with the family or friends. The wind takes you upward on the river and then you can get back down on the other current while floating. This place is truly a hidden gem! We will definitely be back to visit.” – Kristy, Google review
